Although Indian cuisine is among my favorites, I still have yet to write about it. However, as I dug into much Chicken Tikka Masala today, it reminded me I should write about Indigo. The Upper West Side is filled with Indian restaurants, however, Indigo is among my favorites. I try to balance quality of food with price since Indian food can be expensive. Earthen Oven, which is also on the UWS, I think has my favorite food in terms of quality but is very pricey.
Indigo has a terrific lunch special. For $13, you get an appetizer, entree, rice and a naan. Not a bad deal given the prep time Indian food requires. Although I generally lean towards the Chicken Tikka Masala, I also enjoy the Saag Paneer, Lamb Vindaloo and Chicken Korma. The appetizers are excellent across the board too.
I usually get delivery from here, but when I dine at the restaurant, the service is top notch and everyone is very friendly. The food also comes out quickly but they in no way rush you to finish up. It is a small place but feels home like which is nice.
You really can't go wrong with a number of Indian eateries on the UWS, but Indigo sits a bit above the rest on my radar.
Stay hungry my friends.
