Sunset Grill (Westport, CT)

I know I said I was only writing about NY and some LA spots, but thought this would be a nice variation. Over 300 people have written me and requested I write about shrimp cocktail.

So this past week I ventured out to Connecticut to visit a buddy of mine and we went to an eatery which he has taken me to before...Sunset Grill. Actually, his sister used to work there so he frequented it.

I had been there before with him but never actually ate anything. This time, we all were pretty hungry so we decided to get a nice seat on the deck overlooking the marina and chow down. I ordered the shrimp cocktail and a bowl of the "New England Clam Chowder." I put this in quotes because it was grey and thin. That is NOT how NE Clam Chowder should look. If it tasted fine, then okay but it was not good. The shrimp cocktail was good but a bit pricey for 5 shrimps at $15.

We also got the crab and artichoke dip for the table and that was AWESOME. If this place was not on a marina, set on a beautiful night, it would be so-so, but given that and the okay food, this place is a must stop by in CT. Eat, drink, whatever.
